Duality OCT: Zavia Nasato

Name: Zavia “Ve” Nasato
Age: 29

History: Zavia hails from the deserts of Hoenn, having traveled with her troop of a family that made money as they went with fortune telling, carnivals and local festivities within the towns they came across. Ve grew up as the oldest of three, her two brothers tailing after her through their youth and in adulthood learning the tricks of the trade… so to speak. Her gift in reading mystical cards brought her family fortune in the height of her popularity. It was this great fortune that allowed her to purchase the oddity that was Fulvia the Numel her first real companion pokemon. Fulvia’s distinctive coat made her a rather pricey purchase, but as Ve has found, every coin was worth the loyalty and quiet strength of this Numel. It was around this time that she also separated from her troop to settle in the Unova Region.

However, as with most things, the high came with a great collapse. A poor reading on a higher class couple brought a roar of anger from townsfolk who called fraud and demanded full payment in return or a much more frightening sentence. Cornered by an angry mob led by a man in silks there looked to be little option than to submit to ‘justice’. That is until the dusty cobblestone under her slippers began to shift, to Ve’s surprise Fulvia saw the situation unfolding and offered some very precious cover and the two escaped in the duststorm.

Zavia traveled Unova for some time, coming across two new companions: Simon the Xatu who fancies himself a bird of performance and skill ; and Ergo the Eevee, a quiet little pokemon who is distrustful of his new companions still, but has more than once shown his might and way with words. Ergo was and continues to be a fighter, and has more than once proven himself to be merciless.

Thankfully, fortune telling wasn’t Ve’s only calling in life and with a little searching and word of mouth she came across some robe wearing, book toting folk who spoke of an Academy for those of learned backgrounds to find success. It was her other passion to learn about runes of the past, decipher the great ruins from her homeland that her ancestors had carved from stone. Perhaps it was here, at the academy that she could learn more about these glyphs and better herself as a psychic, pokemon companion, and with the whispers of war on the wind it couldn’t hurt to have her feet someplace solid and cunning magi at her side…

Personality: Zavia is a conversationalist first, and would much rather chat over drinks of wine or tea than to draw a blade. This is not to say that she is a pacifist, in fact it is much more the opposite, she will defend herself and her companions with ferocity and loyalty… but would much rather befriend an enemy than draw blood.

Her time in her family troop taught her many great lessons as well as fostered a very motherlike nature to those younger than her or disadvantaged in the world. It is not uncommon for her to offer advice to those who seem to be struggling or to offer a card reading to clear a path for lost souls.

Above all she is positive, cunning, and inquisitive as well as always up for a good conversation among friends ( and potentially enemies).

Pokemon:

Fulvia/Numel: Shy and cautious, Fulvia is never far behind ( or in front of) Zavia, always there to offer kind words of encouragement, a modest view of the situation, and heat. Fulvia and Ve have grown to be extremely attached over the years of travel. Her unique coat has brought her much unwanted attention over the years and made her into a very reserved individual. She will, however, fight when provoked or threatened and can be a fearsome opponent with the lava brewing within her.

Simon/Xatu: This showbird came to Zavia as a tiny Natu and grew quickly under her care and supervision. He is proud, confident, and a bit flamboyant. He is a poet, a minstrel, and a warrior. When his pride is threatened, wounded, or the spotlight is not on him, Simon can be temperamental and a bit careless but his psychic attacks are crippling and he has a talent for distracting his opponents with his vibrant feathers and patterns.

Ergo/ Eevee: Zavia found Ergo wandering the slums of Castelia City, cold, wet, and alone. She wrapped her cloak around him and warmed him with Fulvia’s natural heat. When he woke he was confused, and seemingly very bitter. With some exchange of words he agreed to join the traveling trio as they made their way from hamlet to hamlet. After all, they needed someone to watch their backs and fight off any bandits. Ergo was that pokemon. He continues to be distrustful and refuses to speak about where he came from and even Ve can’t pry any more information from this enigmatic eevee.

Eeee. I cannot tell you how excited I am for this OCT. Admittingly I have never participated in one before, but I feel like this is a good opportunity to sharpen my art skills as well as interact with some seriously awesome people.

I have really quickly fallen in love with this OC and I'm not fully prepared for the amount of art I want to make for her and the crazy trio at her heels. I will also hopefully prepare a sample of what her tarot/mystic cards actually look like.

Also, I have totally abandoned my other DA accounts so I figure I'll just make one to use for this and other stuff I feel like submitting. Eh. :3 I'll hopefully see y'all at the Academy ( Or on the battlefield >D )!
